"DC Extended Universe" is a term invented by Keith Staskiewicz, a journalist at Entertainment Weekly.[1] Because DC Films never indicated a formal name for their shared universe, wikipedia and other wiki farms began using the term. Years later HBO Max used the term for the series, seemingly "canonizing" it. Could also be interrupted as a simple nod to fans as a token of good will from the new streaming service. Press releases for new DC films like Black Adam and The Flash make no mention of the "Extended" term in press releases.
